Olympics 2016

Men’s Olympic Road Race

This promises to be a grueling race, and we have two picks that can hopefully get us (and Team GB) off to a great start!

Chris Froome

Odds: 12/1 (Coral), 1pt win

Reasons: If the peleton reach the last climb first, he will be in prime position to show his strength by attacking again. He was by far the strongest climber in the tour, and will hope to carry the form onto the Olympics. If he does attack expect the gap over the top of the last climb to be the same as at the finish line, as Froome has worked on his descending skills, as shown in the tour, and he has the ability to hold off a small group on the flat road to the finish line

Steve Cummings

Odds: 50/1 (SkyBet, Boylesports, Stan James, Betway), 0.5pt win

Reasons: Steve is known as a breakaway specialist on the big days. Expect him to get into the breakaway, and be the strongest cyclist in there. When he won a stage on this years tour, it was on a similar profile to the Olympic course, and he was able to hold off the likes of Nibali, even extend his gap to them, on the last climb
